Mammals are the animals closest to our hearts, our history of hunting and then farming livestock.
If you ask almost any human on the planet to name a favourite animal and in almost all cases a mammal will be chosen.
Warm-blooded, milk-producing - splitting off from the birds and reptiles around 200 million years ago.
We value their extinctions more - with a few cute exceptions (penguins for example).
Will start off with one of many posts on the common warthog - a constant companion on our trip to Kenya. The next mammal covered just added - the tiny dik-dik and their predators - baboons! And now the red fox.
African Buffalo (Syncerus caffer)
Baboon (Papio)
Common warthog (Phacochoerus africanus)
Dik-dik (Madoqua)
